Scholarships for College – Paying for college is not easy, so every little bit can help. Here are three options available to members of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters.
Ted Kenney – George Vest, Jr. Scholarship
Ted Kenney – George Vest Jr. Scholarship – This scholarship provides financial support to college-bound children of members of local unions who are affiliated with the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. The application deadline is July 1, 2019.
CISCO Launches 2019 Scholarship Program – Application Deadline – February 22, 2019
The Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) is now accepting applications for its 2019 Scholarship Program. The three different program categories enable a wider range of students of both building trade union members and union contractor employees to apply.
CISCO now offers (3), four-year scholarships ($2,000/year) to high school seniors; (2), two-year awards ($1,000/year) for seniors planning to attend community college; and (2), two-year continuing education awards ($1,000/year) to union members or contractor employees.
All applications and accompanying documents must be postmarked by February 22, 2019 to be eligible for consideration. Winners will be notified in mid-March and awards will be presented at CISCO’s Annual Luncheon in April, 2019. William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship
Applications for this year’s William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship are now available on our website (www.chicagolabor.org/scholarship). The CFL will award 10 college scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, to 10 high school seniors. Please share this information with your members!
The applicant must be a senior in high school and graduating in the spring of 2019.
Either the applicant or the applicant’s parent must be a member in good standing of a CFL-affiliated union.
All applicants must complete the personal essay that answers the question: How has the Labor Movement impacted my life?
Completed applications must be received by the Chicago Federation of Labor by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. The Chicago Federation of Labor is located at 130 E. Randolph Street, Suite 2600, Chicago, IL 60601. Applications may be dropped off at the office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Mailed applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.
The applicant must be a senior in high school and graduating in the spring of 2018.
Either the applicant or the applicant’s parent must be a member in good standing of a CFL-affiliated union. To confirm a union’s affiliation status, please call 312.222.1000.
The applicant must choose to enter either the Random Drawing or Academic Competition for the William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship. Students are not eligible to enter both categories. APPLICANTS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER BOTH CATEGORIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
Only completed applications, with the personal essay, will be accepted.
